30-Minute Pizza Base
This yeast free pizza base recipe will give you a delicious pizza base in less than 30 minutes!
Makes: One 30 cm (12") Pizza Base
  • 250 g (8 oz) flour (See notes)
  • 125 g (4 fl oz) water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a well in the centre and add the water and olive oil. Mix to a soft dough, adding a tsp or two or extra water as necessary.
  2. Knead the dough in the bowl for 2 minutes to ensure it is well mixed.
  3. Cover the bowl and leave for 10 minutes while the gluten relaxes.
  4. Roll the dough out to a 30cm (12") disk and place on a lightly-oiled baking tray.
  5. Bake at 200°C/400°F fan oven, 220°C/430°F conventional oven for 3 minutes. This ensures the base is ready to take your pizza sauce.
  6. Cover the pizza base with your favourite pizza sauce, cheese and toppings and bake as normal.
You don't need to use bread flour for this recipe. I use a mixture of 4 parts white flour to 1 part wholemeal to add extra flavour into the base.
